Startide Rising

Summary

David Brin follows the starship Streaker, crewed by genetically uplifted dolphins and a handful of humans, as it hides on a water world after a discovery that draws hostile alien fleets. The crew must repair their ship and manage internal tensions while powerful galactic factions hunt them. The novel develops Brin's Uplift premise, in which advanced species raise others to sapience, and it explores duty, intelligence, and cooperation among different minds.
