Newbery Medal Winner
...And Now Miguel
by Joseph Krumgold
Summary
Joseph Krumgold portrays Miguel Chavez, a twelve year old boy in a New Mexico sheep ranching family who longs to prove he is old enough to join the men driving the flock into the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. Caught between childhood and adulthood, Miguel wrestles with patience, faith, and the consequences of wishing too hard. The first person narration gives an intimate voice to a coming of age story rooted in Hispanic ranching life.
