Summary

A grown Dan Torrance, the boy who survived the Overlook Hotel in The Shining, drifts as an alcoholic before settling into a New Hampshire town where he uses his psychic gift to comfort the dying. His path crosses that of Abra Stone, a girl with enormous power, and together they confront the True Knot, a roving band of near immortals who feed on the life force of gifted children. King returns to one of his most famous settings to tell a story about addiction, recovery, and the inheritance of trauma.
